First, this is a portable charger. which is what I was looking for. The factory charger for my ID4 died (ground pin pulled out of the plug and you can't buy a replacement) and I needed an auxiliary charger for the car. On first inspection the quality looks good and the storage case is nice and has enough room for the included 5-15 to 6-20 adapter as well as the 6-20 to 14-50 adapter that I purchased separately. Unit is marked as CE rated and the 1772 plug is marked as UL rated so it has meet a testing specification. as a quick test I set it up for 110V 13 Amps (my plug is on a 15Amp Breaker) and it worked flawlessly showing 1.5 KW in the car. I then tested it at 220V 16 Amps and it also worked flawlessly showing 3.5KW in the car. did some thermal testing with my laser thermometer and after a couple of hours of operation at 65F ambient the plugs and wires were all in the mid 70F range and the hottest point i could find was on the back of the housing at about 90F (maybe because this side was against the wall). Honestly I think this is a perfect charger even for everyday use if you have a plug in hybrid or a car with a smaller battery. A full charge on the ID4 would take about 22 hours but I have a 7KW charger installed in the garage for everyday use . This unit is faster that the original VW charger and it takes up less space in the trunk so its just what i wanted
